Delete your Forra account
How to delete your account
- Open the Forra app on the device where you're signed in.
- Tap Settings (gear icon, bottom tab).
- Tap Account.
- Tap Delete account at the bottom.
- Read the warning, then tap Continue.
- Re-enter your password to confirm it's really you.
- Tap Permanently delete.
The deletion cascade starts immediately and completes within 24 hours. You receive a confirmation email when deletion completes.
What gets deleted within 24 hours
The following data is irreversibly removed:
- Your account credentials (email + hashed password)
- Your profile (display name, locale preference, notification preferences)
- Your family membership(s)
- All expenses you logged
- All incomes you logged
- All recurring expense + income rules you created
- All voice transcripts you generated (the raw audio was never stored)
- All AI summary cache entries
- All push notification tokens registered to your account
- All voice-feature consent flags
- Your subscription state record (the Apple/Google subscription itself is managed separately — cancel via your store account settings)
Shopping list items: items you personally added are removed; items added by other family members remain on the family's shared list with the "added by" attribution cleared (so the family's shopping history survives when one member leaves).
What is retained, and why
Austrian law requires us to retain a small amount of data even after account deletion:
- Invoice records: retained 7 years per Austrian Tax Code § 132 BAO. If you ever paid for a Forra subscription, the receipt record stays (in anonymized form where possible) for tax-audit purposes.
- Account-deletion audit log entry: retained 30 days from deletion confirmation. Used only for fraud-investigation if someone disputes the deletion was their action. Contains: anonymized account suffix (last 6 chars of UUID), deletion timestamp, IP at deletion time.
Both retention periods are mandated by external regulation; we do not retain them for any product or analytics purpose.
Can I undo a deletion?
Within the 24-hour deletion-cascade window, you can request that we cancel the deletion if it was triggered in error.
To request revocation:
- Email [email protected] from the email address on the account being deleted.
- Include the subject line:
Cancel my account deletion. - Briefly explain the deletion was triggered in error.
We will confirm by email within 24 hours of your request. If your request reaches us before the cascade completes, we cancel the deletion; if after, the data is already gone and cannot be recovered.
We deliberately do NOT publish a clickable revocation link or a public "undo" button. Account deletion is a security-sensitive action; the manual email confirmation step adds a layer of verification that prevents account-takeover attackers from immediately deleting your account and then claiming it back.
Apple / Google subscription
If you had an active Forra paid subscription at the time of deletion, that subscription is managed by Apple or Google — not by Forra. Deleting your Forra account does NOT cancel the subscription.
To cancel the subscription itself:
- iOS: open apps.apple.com/account/subscriptions on your iPhone or iPad.
- Android: open Google Play → menu → Subscriptions.
If your subscription auto-renews after your account is deleted, the renewal is charged but you have no Forra account to use the access on. We recommend cancelling the subscription BEFORE deleting your account.
